The SmartAX MA5698 Multi-service Access Module is an indoor box-shaped optical network unit (ONU) developed by Huawei. It applies in fiber to the mobile base station (FTTM) scenarios. As an access device for base station radio backhaul, the MA5698 receives base station data using a GE or E1 port and transmits data upstream through the upper-layer network, implementing the base station private line service.

The SmartAX MA5698 provides these product features:

Simple Deployment

- Is plug and play and supports one-stop deployment. The MA5698 using PON upstreamtransmission supports offline deployment. It automatically obtains configuration data from theU2000 and the configuration data automatically takes effect on the MA5698. In addition, theMA5698 automatically reports an online event to the U2000 when it goes online.

- The MA5698 is small in size and light in weight and supports various installation scenarios. Forexample, it can be installed on desktop, in indoor cabinets, in network boxes, or in outdoor cabinets.

High Precision Clock and Time Synchronization

- Can use multiple clock sources as the system clock input of the MA5698. This effectively ensureshigh precision clock synchronization between the MA5698 and the communication network.

- Supports GPON-based 1588v2 and GE-based synchronous Ethernet and 1588v2.

- (Optional) Supports built-in stratum-3 clock modules.

High Efficiency Maintenance and Management

- Supports remote batch upgrades.

- Supports accurate fault locating and remote troubleshooting.

- Monitors network performance in real time.

Carrier-Class Reliability Design

- Complies with carrier-class reliability.

- Passes electrostatic discharge (ESD) tests.

- Supports the following surge protection:

On the power port: 6 kV in both common and differential modes.

On LAN ports: 4 kV in common mode.

- Supports power supply using batteries when the AC power supply is cut off in AC + battery power backup mode.
