The Cisco Meraki MS130-8P-HW is a compact, cloud-managed Layer 2 access switch designed for enterprise networks, branch offices, and distributed sites. It combines 8 × 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet ports with PoE support and intuitive cloud management to simplify daily operations for distributors, small and mid-size integrators, and end users across Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America. With a 120W total PoE power budget, the MS130-8P-HW can power IP phones, wireless access points, and surveillance cameras directly from the switch, reducing the need for separate power adapters and helping to lower installation costs.

This Cisco switch is managed through the Cisco Meraki cloud dashboard, which offers centralized visibility and configuration from any location. IT teams can deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot multiple sites without on-site visits, which is especially valuable for partners managing networks for many branches or retail outlets. The intuitive interface supports quick network segmentation using IEEE 802.1Q VLANs, allowing up to 4,094 VLANs for clear separation of user, voice, and guest traffic and helping to improve security and performance.

For performance, the MS130-8P-HW delivers 16Gbps switching capacity and an 11.9Mpps forwarding rate, which is more than enough for typical access-layer workloads such as office productivity, IP telephony, and cloud applications. A 16,000-entry MAC address table and 12Mb packet buffer help keep traffic flowing smoothly, even during bursts, and reduce the risk of dropped packets that can affect voice or video services. Link aggregation with IEEE 802.3ad LACP allows multiple physical links to be combined, increasing bandwidth and providing redundancy between switches.

The switch supports RSTP and MSTP spanning tree protocols (IEEE 802.1w and 802.1s), providing loop protection and stable network topology in larger Layer 2 domains. Quality of Service features such as 802.1p CoS and DSCP classification with 8 QoS queues help prioritize latency-sensitive traffic, making the MS130-8P-HW suitable for VoIP and video conferencing in modern workplaces. A dedicated out-of-band management Ethernet port offers a separate path for troubleshooting and remote access, which is useful for managed service providers and IT teams who need reliable control channels.

For power and installation, the MS130-8P-HW includes an internal 100–240V AC, 50/60Hz power supply, so it can be deployed in different regions without additional converters. With an operating temperature range of 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F) and 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity tolerance, the switch is suitable for typical indoor environments in commercial buildings, schools, and hospitality locations.
