What’s new with HP ProLiant BL460c Gen9?

As the world’s leading server blade, the HP ProLiant BL460c Gen9 offers your SMB customers the ideal balance of performance, scalability, and expandability. In this aticle, we give you an overview of the BL460c Gen9, and tells you what’s new for Gen9.

Designed for a wide range of configuration and deployment options, the HP ProLiant BL460c Gen9 Server Blade provides the flexibility to optimize core IT applications with right-sized storage for the right workload for a lower TCO.

So, what is new for Gen9? For this quick overview, the majority of the updates can be broken down into five main areas: processors, memory, storage, networking, and management.

  1. Processors: the BL460c Gen9 will offer the newest Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 family of processors. These processors will start at 4 cores and go up to 18 cores, running at frequencies of up to 3.5GHz
  2. Memory: the Gen9 version of the BL460c will now support 16 DDR4 DIMM slots. This new type of memory will allow for speeds up to 2133MHz.
  3. Storage: New to Gen9, HP now offers tiered storage options for the best possible TCO. For customers with the most basic storage needs, the BL460c Gen9 comes standard with the 6Gb HP Dynamic Smart Array B140i, providing chipset SATA capabilities.
  4. Networking: With Gen9, customers now have the option of upgrading to 10Gb FlexFabric for their two embedded I/O ports. These new adapters are the first to combine LAN, SAN, and RDMA.
  5. Management: From a management perspective, the BL460c Gen9 offers full support of HP iLO4 and HP OneView 1.2 and newer, delivering the Power of One—one infrastructure, one management platform.

Pairing the HP ProLiant BL460c Gen9 with Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 gives your SMB customers even more benefits, providing them with enterprise-class datacenter and hybrid cloud solutions that are simple to deploy, cost-effective, application-focused, and user-centric.
