When you order an HPE server, would you care about the CTO or BTO?
Here tells you what the CTO and BTO are.
CTO: Configuration-To-Order
HPE factory orders. The list number corresponds to the related product. The factory assembles the corresponding product based on these product numbers. However, depending on the market of the product, 3-7 different types of the same product are numbered.
For example: 872475-B21 (factory order code) - HPE 300GB SAS 10K SFF SC DS HDD, corresponding to distribution model code 872735-001, and corresponding to HPE Direct Code 872475-S21.
So, the coding of the same product is different for the market, the model is different.
BTO:Build-To-Order
Distributor order number. The so-called distribution model is Hewlett-Packard's production of existing models for demand. This model includes the CPU, memory, array card, power supply.
The model of the distribution machine varies according to the country and region. China is xxxxxx-AA1, Japan is xxxxxx-291, and other regions are xxxxxx-B21. HPE direct sales are xxxxxx-S21, xxxxxx-425 and so on.
Except the product code, the differences between BTO and CTO:
CTO:Submit all the user's requirements to the factory to assembly. Ship it to the customer after assembly. It can’t submit accessory requests separately. Therefore, CTO orders will take a long time, but the product quality can be strictly controlled.
BTO:The HPE dealers assembled the distribution models according to the customer's needs and submitted them to the customer after the assembly was completed. Therefore, BTO orders take a short time, but the product quality is not controllable.
