What is IP Camera and its type?

Internet Protocol cameras, often known as IP cameras or network cameras, provide digital video surveillance by transmitting and receiving footage via the internet or a local area network (LAN). IP cameras, as the name implies, link to a network by WiFi or a Power over Ethernet (PoE) cable. They are frequently used in conjunction with network video recorders (NVRs) and, on occasion, digital video recorders (DVRs), making them a popular enterprise video surveillance option.

Where are IP cameras commonly used?

• Retail Stores

• Business Offices

• Government Buildings

• Industrial Sites

• Banks

• Military Facilities

• Traffic Intersections

What are the types of IP cameras?

1. PTZ IP Camera

Pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras can modify their range of view and angle with the help of a remote operator, giving users more flexibility over tracking events. They are widely employed to monitor public outdoor spaces since they can cover potentially enormous regions.

2. Fixed IP Camera

Fixed IP cameras are fixed in place and provide a single view within the camera's field of view, continuously monitoring subjects within a specified frame. Fixed cameras are commonly found in retail outlets and company buildings, both outside and indoors. They require less bandwidth to support than PTZ cameras.

3. PoE or PoE+ IP Camera

PoE IP cameras employ an Ethernet cable (often Cat 5 or 6) to simultaneously supply both electrical power and data. This eliminates the need for two separate cords for power and data, lowering the amount of hardware needed.

4. Wireless IP Camera

To transmit video data, wireless IP cameras connect to a WiFi router. The film is subsequently saved to the cloud or the camera's internal storage. Wireless IP cameras can be a viable solution for small residences, but for bigger areas, a cable camera system is preferable because it is less sensitive to interference.
