The Cisco MX68-HW is a cloud-managed security and SD-WAN appliance designed for branch offices and small enterprises that need reliable, always-on connectivity. Managed through the Cisco Meraki Dashboard, it combines firewall, VPN, and traffic shaping in one compact router, making it easy to deploy across multiple Asian, European, African, or North American sites. With recommended support for up to 50 client devices and WAN bandwidth up to 300 Mbps, the MX68-HW is well suited for distributed offices, retail locations, and remote branches that depend on secure access to headquarters or cloud services.

This appliance delivers 600 Mbps stateful firewall throughput, which helps keep business applications responsive while enforcing consistent security policies. For organizations running regional VPN hubs or multi-branch SD-WAN, the MX68-HW supports up to 50 site-to-site VPN tunnels and 50 client VPN users, depending on the active licence. IPsec-based site-to-site VPN can be configured in a few clicks from the cloud portal, so small IT teams and integrators can roll out secure connectivity without complex CLI work.

On the wired side, the MX68-HW includes 2 dedicated RJ45 WAN interfaces and 10 RJ45 Gigabit LAN ports, allowing simple segmentation of office networks, guest zones, and key servers. Two of the LAN ports provide PoE+ with a shared budget up to 30 W, ideal for powering devices such as Cisco Meraki MR access points, IP phones, or small cameras without separate power adapters. An additional USB 2.0 port supports compatible 3G/4G modem failover, providing extra resilience for branches where fixed-line links are unstable or where backup cellular access is required for critical services.

The internal AC power supply accepts 100–240 VAC at 50/60 Hz, making the same hardware suitable for deployment in many countries without special power conversion. The desktop, compact form factor can sit in a small office or be mounted in a 1U rack using optional brackets, giving distributors and SMB integrators flexibility in mixed environments. Operating conditions from 0°C to 40°C and 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity, together with CE, FCC, IC, and RoHS compliance (region-dependent), support rollouts across a wide range of commercial sites.

Centralized cloud management via the Cisco Meraki Dashboard is a key advantage for distributed businesses. IT teams can push templates, monitor security events, and troubleshoot WAN issues remotely, reducing on-site visits and speeding up problem resolution. The MX68-HW does not include integrated Wi-Fi, allowing you to design wireless coverage using separate Meraki MR access points in a way that best fits each building.
