Huawei SmartAX GPON ONU Overview

The Huawei GPON ONUs (SmartAX MA561x and MA562x) are GPON multi-service access devices provided by Huawei and are mainly used in FTTB and FTTC scenarios.

Huawei MA561x series provides these platforms:
  1. The SmartAX MA5612 multi-service access module is an optical network unit (ONU) developed by Huawei. The MA5612 is a 1 U-high box-shaped device in which some service boards are mountable. It is mainly used on the fiber to the building (FTTB) and fiber to the curb(FTTC) networks. In addition, the MA5612 can meet certain requirements of private line access.
  2. The SmartAX MA5616 Multi-service Access Module is a 2-U high and 19-inch wide board-inserted device. Huawei MA5616 supports GPON, XG-GPON, GE, 10GE, VDSL2, ADSL2+ and POTS interface. Applying in FTTB and FTTC scenarios. It can also function as a mini-digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) or multiservice access node (MSAN). The MA5616 can be installed in corridors or cabinets (indoor or outdoor).

Huawei MA562x series provides these platforms:
  1. The SmartAX MA5620 or MA5626 is a box-type device configurable with a GPON uplink ports and up to 8, 16, or 24 downstream ports for broadband, voip, pots, and Internet access services.
  2. The SmartAX MA5621 or MA5621A Multi-Service Access Module is a passive cooling multi-dwelling unit (MDU) developed by Huawei for smart grid reconstruction. Applying to automatic power site information transmission networks, intelligent electricity consumption information collection networks, and video monitoring networks.
  3. The SmartAX MA5622A/MA5623/MA5623A mainly applies to the fiber to the building (FTTB) and fiber to the curb (FTTC) scenarios. It can also be used as a mini digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) to provide traditional data, voice and video services.
