The Huawei OptiX OSN1800 is a series of box architecture Multi-Service Optical Transport Network (MS-OTN) transmission equipment that supports Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), packet, and Optical Transmission Network (OTN) services over a metro or campus optical network. This equipment enables multiple high-bandwidth services (from 2 Mbit/s to 100 Gbit/s) to be delivered at less cost. The OptiX OSN 1800 supports resilient, low-latency video transmission, real-time industrial automation applications, and server-based multimedia applications. It provides cost-effective transport solutions for power, medical, Storage Area Networks (SANs), data centers, and video surveillance.

Structure

The OptiX OSN 1800 I compact chassis provides four slots for boards. An OptiX OSN 1800 I compact chassis can be an ordinary chassis or a chassis integrated with a fiber management tray (FMT). An ordinary chassis can be a DC or AC power-supply chassis, but a chassis integrated with an FMT can be an DC power-supply chassis only.

Slot Distribution

All boards in the chassis are installed horizontally in the front of the chassis. The OptiX OSN 1800 I compact chassis provides four slots for boards.
  • Slots 1, 3 and 4 can be configured with optical transponder (OTU) boards, optical add/drop multiplexer (OADM) boards, optical multiplexer and demultiplexer boards, optical amplifier boards, and protection boards.
  • Slot 2 is fixed to house the SCC board.
  • Slot 5 is fixed to house the PIU board.
  • An APIU board occupies two slots. Since the pins are at the upper part of the board, the board is inserted into the upper slot. On the NMS, the slot ID of the APIU board is therefore that of the upper slot. If the board is inserted into slot 3, occupying slots 1 and 3, the slot ID of the board displayed on the NMS is slot 3.
  • Slot 6 is fixed to house the FAN board.

An OptiX OSN 1800 II compact chassis can be an ordinary chassis or a chassis integrated with a fiber management tray (FMT). Both an ordinary chassis and a chassis integrated with an FMT can be a DC or AC power-supply chassis.

  • Slot 7 is used to house the optical add/drop multiplexer (OADM) boards, optical multiplexer/demultiplexer boards, or SCS board.
  • Slot 8 is fixed to house the SCC board.
  • Slot 11 is fixed to house the FAN board.
  • An APIU board occupies two slots. Since the pins are at the upper part of the board, the board is inserted into the upper slot. On the NMS, the slot ID of the APIU board is therefore that of the upper slot.

One OSN 1800 I Enhanced chassis provides three slots for boards. The OSN 1800 I Enhanced chassis can be a common DC chassis and AC chassis. The DC chassis is equipped with DC PIU boards. The AC chassis is equipped with AC APIU boards.

  • Slot 1: fixed to house a TMA1UXCL board.

  • Slot 5: fixed to house a PIU board.
  • Slot 6: fixed to house a FAN board.

  • Slots 7 and 8 house UXCL boards only.

  • Slot 11 house a FAN board only.

  • Slots 15 and 16 are dedicated for housing the control/cross-connect/clock integrated boards.
  • Slots 17 and 18 are dedicated for housing the PIU boards when the chassis is DC powered. Slots 17 and 19 are dedicated for housing the APIU board when the chassis is AC powered. Slot 19 can also be used to house an OTU board, OADM board, optical amplifier board, optical multiplexer/demultiplexer board, optical protection board, optical supervisory channel board, or auxiliary interface board when the chassis is DC powered.
  • Slot 20 is dedicated for housing the FAN board.
