HWIC-8A/S-232: Prend en charge les routeurs des séries 1800/1900/2800/2900/3800/3900; 4 ports, EIA-232, bas débit, jusqu'à 256 000 bps par port; Support multiprotocole, gestion à distance

HWIC-8A/S utilise deux connecteurs haute densité à 4 ports, chaque connecteur prenant en charge quatre ports EIA-232 avec des interfaces d'équipement de communication de données (DCE) ou d'équipement terminal de données (DTE). Avec l'intégration du module au routeur, il est possible soit de transporter le trafic traditionnel sur un réseau TCP/IP, soit de se connecter avec des ports de console et d'artisanat pour gérer le réseau à distance.

HWIC-8A/S-232 prend en charge le protocole série EIA-232 uniquement et une connexion à faible vitesse qui accélère jusqu'à 256 Kbps. Les quatre ports d'un même câble utilisent le même mode DTE et DCE.
