HPC Servers

HPC servers, or high-performance computing servers, are designed to process scientific computing, engineering simulation, research workloads, AI-assisted computing, and large-scale data analysis. They combine high-performance CPUs, large memory capacity, GPU acceleration, high-speed networking, and flexible expansion for demanding computing environments.

When choosing an HPC server, compare CPU cores, GPU support, memory capacity and bandwidth, PCIe topology, high-speed network interfaces, storage performance, power requirements, and cooling. The right configuration depends on whether the workload is CPU-intensive, GPU-accelerated, memory-intensive, or deployed as part of a larger HPC cluster.

HPC Server Models by Computing Priority

Compare representative HPC servers by accelerator capability, CPU and memory scalability, node density, and cluster expansion requirements.

HPC System Priority Representative Models Key Differences to Compare
GPU-Accelerated HPC G5500 V7
G8600 V7
G5200 V7
G530 V5
Compare GPU quantity, GPU form factor, GPU memory, PCIe topology, GPU-to-GPU communication, GPUDirect support, power delivery, and cooling capacity.
CPU and Memory-Intensive HPC 2488H V6
2488H V7
5885H V6
1288 V8
Compare processor count, CPU core capacity, DIMM quantity, memory bandwidth, NUMA architecture, maximum memory, and sustained computing performance.
High-Density HPC and Cluster Expansion 1288H V7
X6000 V6
XH321C V6
2288 V8
Compare rack or node density, power and cooling design, high-speed network interfaces, PCIe expansion, storage options, and the ability to scale across an HPC cluster.

What to Check Before Choosing an HPC Server

Match the server architecture to the application. CPU-based HPC workloads require strong processor and memory performance, while GPU-accelerated workloads require compatible GPUs, sufficient PCIe bandwidth, high-speed interconnects, and adequate power and cooling.

For cluster deployments, also confirm node density, network adapters, RDMA or GPUDirect support, storage performance, operating system compatibility, scheduling software, and the exact factory configuration of the selected SKU.
