HPE Aruba Networking End-of-Life Policy Overview

Router-Switch.com provides this summary based on the official End of Life (EOL) policy published by HPE Aruba Networking. The goal is to help users clearly understand how HPE Aruba Networking defines lifecycle milestones, support timelines, and the transition process as products move toward EOL and End of Service Life (EOSL).

The policy outlines separate lifecycle milestones for hardware and software, each with distinct timelines and support commitments.

Hardware Lifecycle Milestones

For hardware products, the EOL process begins with a formal announcement and follows a clear timeline leading to the end of support. This process ensures customers have sufficient time for planning and migration.

Milestone Definition
EOL Announcement The official date when HPE Aruba Networking announces the EOL timeline for a product. This occurs 6 months before the End of Sale (EOS) date.
End of Sale (EOS) The last day to order the product through official sales channels. After this date, the product is no longer available for purchase.
Last Day to Purchase/Renew Support The final opportunity to buy a new service contract or renew an existing one. This date is 4 years after the EOS date. Contracts are limited to a 1-year term to align with the final support date.
End of Support (EOST) The last date to receive technical support and services from the HPE Aruba Networking Technical Assistance Center (TAC). This occurs 5 years after the EOS date. After this, the product is considered obsolete.

Software Lifecycle Milestones

HPE Aruba Networking's software lifecycle policy is based on two main release types:

  • Short Supported Release (SSR): Delivers the latest features and functionalities and has a shorter maintenance period.
  • Long Supported Release (LSR): Focuses on stability and extended maintenance, receiving bug fixes and security patches for a longer duration.
Milestone Definition
Initial Release Date The date a new software version becomes generally available.
End of Maintenance (EOM) The last date that product development will release software maintenance, patches, or bug fixes. The timeline varies significantly by product and release type (SSR vs. LSR), with LSR versions typically receiving maintenance for 3-4 years after the initial release.
End of Support (EOST) The final date that a specific software version is supported by the TAC. For LSR versions, this is typically 1-2 years after the EOM date. Access to software downloads may be discontinued after EOST.

Please note that HPE Aruba Networking's official EOL policy may be updated or changed over time. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, please visit the official HPE Aruba Networking EOL Policy.
